Managed Care & the ACA in Pennsylvania

  • The Affordable Care Act (ACA) has dramatically changed the health care landscape in Pennsylvania and primarily affected people who do not have health care. Additionally, Pennsylvania is trying for the third time since 2015 to replace its Medicaid contracts — worth a total of $65 billion over the past five years — with companies that manage physical health benefits for 2.6 million Pennsylvanians. What is the outlook for Managed Care in PA in the long and short term?
  • Moderated By Harrison Cann, Staff Reporter; City & State PA

The Crisis of Pennsylvania's Aging & Vulnerable Populations

  • In many ways, this pandemic has changed our priorities and shown us what matters most -- that everyone’s health and wellbeing must be the top priority. These lessons will help Pennsylvania to improve the way it approaches long-term care for seniors, children, homeless and people with disabilities, ensuring the most vulnerable populations receive the care they deserve during the remainder of this pandemic, and into the future.
  • Moderated By Bill Johnston-Walsh, State Director; AARP Pennsylvania

    • Maria Collett, RN, State Senator, 12th District; Pennsylvania State Senate

Innovative Health Programs & Services in Pennsylvania

  • Pennsylvania’s health systems and services have been turned upside down in the last year with COVID 19. Many health facilities have become overrun, and staff overwhelmed, as issues with insurance emerged and various health services could barely keep up with the demand. Technology has become a bigger factor in terms of telehealth and telemedicine, electronic processing, shared data, etc. This panel will discuss forward-looking measures that are happening right now such as controlling the spread of the pandemic through tracing, as well as how Pennsylvania has and will respond to future urgent health crises, best practices for data security, and so much more.
  • Moderated By Justin Sweitzer, Senior Reporter; City & State PA
  • Panelist:
    • Christopher Chamberlain, MS RN CHEP, Vice President, Emergency Management; The Hospital & Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania
