Connecting Health Professionals and Legislature in the Greater Philadelphia Area

City & State PA’s regional Healthcare Summits are the ideal incubators for the public and private sectors to collaborate on how to improve the delivery of healthcare services. These curated events feature policymakers, healthcare organizations and advocacy groups within the healthcare industry, each spotlighted in two separate panel discussions. Attendees will learn about the solutions for the region’s elder care crisis, innovations in primary care delivery, new programs to support our most vulnerable populations, and innovations in healthcare technology.

The Greater Philadelphia Healthcare Summit will address these topics and more as our live panels dig into different aspects of the region’s healthcare challenges and opportunities. Like all of City & State’s policy summits, this event offers industry executives, public sector leaders and academics the opportunity to debate critical issues and develop solutions that will benefit all stakeholders.

The Department of Public Health works to protect and promote the health of all residents and to provide a safety net for the most vulnerable, making sure every Philadelphian has access to equitable and technologically advanced healthcare has become critical. What does it mean to tackle these issues, and how will it impact patients, primary care providers, insurers, and the overall healthcare marketplace? And how does equity come into play as we continue to learn more about disparities in care?

Panel 2: Community Engagement with Aging and Vulnerable Populations

Community engagement from advocacy organizations, schools and healthcare providers/systems can help empower communities and improve their quality of life. Such partnerships have the organizational and technical resources to ensure that most vulnerable groups' needs are met, including the homeless and those who are economically and mentally challenged, as well as the disabled, youth and elderly. How can the City of Philadelphia and leaders from surrounding counties better engage with providers and nonprofit leaders to address the needs of the most vulnerable community members? Which resources are underutilized, which ones need to be reconceptualized, and what is missing from the picture entirely?

Panelists:

  • Moderated by: Lynette Killen, Executive Director, The Sarah Ralston Foundation

  • Rep. Darisha Parker, Member, State House Aging & Older Adult Services Committee & Chair, Subcommittee on Care &  Services
